In addition to the NHL, Setanta Sports is currently the exclusive rights holder to the UFC in Ukraine and Eurasia. The company has extended this contract through to 2024, with the possibility of a further extension. It will also air the new UFC Connected series.
UFC
A recent multi-year deal between UFC and Setanta Sports has boosted the UFC brand in Ukraine. This new partnership will see UFC events in the country on the Setanta Sports + app and on the company’s linear TV channels.
The deal will also see Setanta taking in some of the best games from the NHL. These will be screened across its televised and digital networks, including the one in the Ukrainian language. This is the first time an OTT service has been exclusively dedicated to sports in the country. Currently, BT Sports holds the exclusive rights to all UFC events in the UK, with pay per view PPVs being aired via the aforementioned service.
There is also a multi-year deal between the two companies to provide coverage of the EFL Championship. Aside from the UFC, Setanta will also provide live coverage of the NBA and NHL in select markets.
Formula One
Setanta Sports has been operating in Ukraine since 2019. This Eurasian sports network specializes in top-tier soccer, basketball, hockey, motorsport, and esports. The company’s channels are available in at least two million homes across the country. It also has agreements with over 150 platform operators.
Setanta Sports’ Ukrainian network carries Premier League and English Football League Championship rights, along with a host of other sports rights. It operates two linear TV channels and a streaming service. It is a premium international sports network. It has also signed up with the English Football League and FA Cup.
