Since 1888, the National Geographic Society has inspired people to care for our planet through exploration, education and scientific research.
The Society also publishes travel resources, such as National Geographic magazine and Traveler, books, maps and film/television divisions – these resources are utilized by National Geographic Expeditions for creating authentic travel experiences around the globe.
Active Expeditions
Travel with National Geographic to experience some of the world’s greatest natural wonders with expert guides who share their enthusiasm and knowledge of these breathtaking locations. Our tours draw on 130 years of exploration, research and education by National Geographic.
Active Expeditions combine breathtaking sights, physical challenge, and meaningful interactions between cultures into unforgettable adventures. Trips are limited to 16 travellers and led by an experienced adventure guide.
These trips are more economical than our more luxurious expeditions and provide more freedom of choice between activities and experiences. Activity levels will depend on your itinerary, though most trips are designed to cater for people of varying fitness levels.
Tours with an Expert and Photography Tours provide in-depth exploration, featuring departures led by a National Geographic Expert or photographer and world-class accommodations and experiences. The cost of these expeditions includes meals, accommodation and excursions as indicated on their itineraries.
Lindblad Expeditions and National Geographic have joined forces to inspire travel around the globe through expedition travel and spread geographic knowledge worldwide. Their partnership is founded on their shared belief that travel is an indispensable means of understanding nature’s vast complexity, as well as protecting wild places, cultures and communities for future generations.
Join a voyage of discovery to the Galapagos Islands, and witness giant tortoises, blue-footed boobies and playful penguins go about their daily business without fearing your presence. Or explore Baja Mexico on a whale-watching cruise aboard National Geographic Venture!
On Assignment
Women of Vision: National Geographic Photographers on Assignment at the National Geographic Museum is currently featuring award-winning female photographers who were photographed for National Geographic assignments by 11 award-winning female photographers from PNC Financial Services Group Inc (NYSE: PNC). One particularly impressive feat involves using augmented reality and live video technology to bring these ethereal vistas back to life – and best of all – this experience is free for visitors – unlike many museum exhibitions which require membership fees or purchases to enjoy it! This experience offers visitors a fantastic opportunity to discover this vibrant world up close while getting acquainted with some of its most memorable people.
Journeys
National Geographic Journeys offer exciting adventure, culture, and experiences with meaningful encounters between people and places. Often limited to 16 or fewer travellers, these trips offer more free time and choices while remaining secure due to travelling as part of a small group.
Each trip features a Chief Experience Officer (CEO), extraordinary individuals dedicated to making your tour unforgettable. From insider access to restricted locations or guidance about where best to explore a city, to providing insights into new cultures you’re discovering – they will ensure an unforgettable journey.
Some tours organized by National Geographic or G Adventures also include special people and projects supported by them, which provides meaningful experiences for travelers as well as locals alike. Many of these initiatives can create lasting, sustainable change within communities you visit – creating meaningful encounters all around.
Family-focused itineraries feature engaging activities to provide children and adults alike with an unforgettable learning experience, exploring wildlife conservation, history and culture, exploration, and other subjects along the way. You will return from this trip feeling inspired!
